We helped Port of Aarhus to explore opportunities for better utilizing excess energy and resource flows among the companies at the harbor. Our role has been to create insights, identify and brainstorm on potentials, and develop hypotheses based on these findings.

Additionally, We contributed to identifying key stakeholders, fostering engagement, and demonstrating progress.

Regarding the collaboration, Anne Zachariassen, Operations Director at Port of Aarhus, stated: "GreenLab Advisory played a crucial role as the facilitator, seeing the bigger picture and, with high professionalism and business acumen, challenging the conventional thinking of the companies involved in the project as well as the steering committee."

She further stated: "They contributed with a great deal of curiosity and enthusiasm, which has been crucial for the process and progress. They have been curious about both large and small symbiotic potentials to be able to present the breadth of opportunities, and their ability to see opportunities rather than limitations has had a contagious effect on the process. We were very pleased with the collaboration."

Port of Aarhus, owned by Aarhus Municipality, is the largest commercial and container port in Denmark, home to approximately 150 companies. The harbor has an ambitious goal of becoming the Baltic Sea region's most sustainable commercial port.

Kredsløb spearheaded the second phase of the Port of Aarhus project. This phase focused on a specific idea from the initial concept catalog: exploring the potential for a high-temperature heat network among existing tenants.

Our contribution was technical concept development and a financial feasibility study. By analyzing the existing infrastructure and identifying potential synergies, we helped to create a plausible solution. This involved a comprehensive assessment of the technical requirements, cost implications, and regulatory considerations.

Through our collaborative approach, we successfully navigated the challenges and developed a business case for the high-temperature heat network. This project exemplifies the power of innovation and partnership.

Lasse Sørensen, Head of business development at Kredsløb says:

“Greenlab Advisory contributed with invaluable insights and an overarching perspective to the concept development phase, playing a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable business plan. Their holistic approach and inquisitive nature have been instrumental in challenging our thinking and inspiring new ideas. It has been a valuable experience for our team."

Kredsløb is a pioneering district heating and resource management company, transforming Aarhus into a sustainable city. By optimizing energy use, integrating renewable energy sources, and embracing circular economy principles, Kredsløb aims to create a more efficient and sustainable district heating system.
